You Am I – Damage

“Damage” was filmed in September 2000 around the lush, green countryside of Myrniong near Bachus Marsh, about 45 minutes drive from Melbourne. We spent two days in freezing cold conditions with the gaffer Chris Loveday performing like a true hero, manually lugging an HMI and portable generator up and down the rolling hills.

The clip has remained quite popular and I still get people to this day commenting on how fond they are of it. We seemed to create an appropriate fusion of music, lyrics and imagery that lends the piece a sober, surreal ambience. Try saying that fast three times. Not as hard as you thought it would be, was it?
