With over 30 years of experience in the film industry, Bart Borghesi is a director from Melbourne, Australia, known for his multifaceted approach to filmmaking. While directing is his primary focus, he also brings deep knowledge in producing, designing, camera work, editing, VFX and colour correction, allowing him to approach each project with a comprehensive understanding of the filmmaking process.
Bart has directed and edited over 100 music videos for renowned international labels including Sony, Warner, EMI, Universal, BMG, Liberation, Shock, and Festival Records. His work has earned him five nominations for the ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Best Music Video Award, culminating in a win in 2003 for “Do It With Madonna” by The Androids.
His collaborations feature an impressive roster of artists, such as Iggy Pop, You Am I, Tex Perkins, Grinspoon, The Living End, The Superjesus, The Whitlams, Daniel Merriweather, Airbourne, Something for Kate, Magic Dirt, Stonefield, Tina Arena, Eskimo Joe, Jet, The Boss Hoss, Paul Dempsey, Dan Sultan, Killing Heidi, and Ella Hooper, among many others.
In addition to his music video work, Bart served as Director of Video Production for the Red Bull Music Academy and the Red Bull Beat Suite in Melbourne. Bart has also directed television commercials, receiving a nomination for Best Tourism Commercial at the prestigious London International Advertising Awards. From 2014 to 2020, Bart maintained a successful partnership with Open House Melbourne in collaboration with Culture Victoria, the Heritage Council of Victoria and Melbourne University. His contributions included directing, producing, shooting, and editing a series of architectural programs, notably the "Modern Melbourne" series, which explores the impact of mid-century architecture through the lens of six influential architects.
In 2023, Bart transitioned to education, teaching filmmaking at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment (AIE). There, he specialised in virtual production, guiding students through the intricacies of shooting and lighting in a volume with full Unreal Engine integration.
Now back in the freelance realm in 2024, Bart is immersed in the development of multiple exciting projects, ready to bring new stories to life on screen.
